Joanna was born and raised in Queens, NY, with her roots in Romania and Ecuador, giving her that ethnically ambiguous and exotic look. She was instilled with dedication and determination which turned into a fiery work ethic as her passion grew in the Arts. She started on stage as a dancer at a young age with countless of performances in ballet, jazz and tap over a span of two decades. Her love began to grow for theatre and acting as she appeared in numerous plays and short films while attending college. Upon graduation, she took the next step and landed herself in Los Angeles. She started studying with Lauren P Nadler and booked a co-star role on I DIDN’T KNOW I WAS PREGNANT as well as roles on independent films such as DON’T LOOK IN THE CELLAR, and UNBELIEVABLE. Always taking charge of her career, Joanna began collaborating and writing her own material and created the web series, ZOE & CHLOE: PRIVATE DETECTIVES. While working on two seasons of the hit cop comedy, she also booked a role on the dating web series IS IT ME?. After relocating back to New York, she booked a role in the indie horror film ALEX & ME which takes place in the cemeteries of New Orleans. Starting the new year off strong, Joanna booked the lead role on a companion relationship web series NEED NOT APPLY. While filming the pilot, Joanna also booked her first theatre production in New York: THE NATURE ROOM is a comedy about love, survival, and the California Wolverine performed at the SIGNATURE THEATRE.
Joanna has been meticulously building her network and studying with Anthony Abeson in Manhattan. Casting directors have come to know her to portray the edgy, savvy, get the job done type. She’s the new up and coming bilingual actress for fierce women roles while bringing clever wit to her comedic timing. Her passion lies with the stories she needs to share with the world: the lost looking for redemption, those fighting their demons, and the survivor brave enough to share their battles. Her dream is to bring to life the brave missions of our heroes, the untold sacrifices, and love stories of our military men and women and their families.
